Western Ranch Yarns
Exclusive yarns that are the gifts of our animals of the Rocky Mountain states. Soft bisondown is made from the wooly coat shed each spring by buffalo on Wyoming ranches. Cashmere from Colorado goats comes in shades of ‘softer than a cloud’ white, gray and brown. Wyoming and Montana sheep provide ample supplies of colored wools which can be left natural, or successfully overdyed. Angora goats and rabbits yield mohair and mohair/angora blends that are lovingly handspun into a soft, translucent white yarn. Several herds of gentle llamas and alpacas produce soft, silky yarns that range in color from brick red, to browns, grays, blacks and whites. Last of all a chocolate brown fiber is combed from willing yaks.
Count yourself lucky to wear the coat of one of these animals. Count yourself even luckier if you know the name of the one who grew it for you!
